Kaduna, Nigeria — November 2, 2025 | Dalena Reporters Two persons who had survived a prolonged attack by armed Islamic bandits in the Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State Nigeria have died in hospital, raising further concerns about the scale of violence in the region’s rural Christian communities.
The victims, identified as Emmanuel Friday (age 24) and Blessing Iheanacho (age 19), were part of a group of villagers abducted from Nissi village in mid-October. According to local sources, the Islamic Terrorist initially attacked the community, killed several people, and took many hostages. Two weeks later, the survivors were released but had suffered multiple injuries and trauma.
They were admitted to Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital in Kaduna city, where they succumbed to their wounds on Friday and Saturday, respectively. The Islamic Terrorist group reportedly demanded a large ransom, later negotiated down, and the released hostages were left in a remote bush area before being picked up by relatives. The two who died did not have access to intensive care or reconstructive treatment, sources say.
Local community leaders described the deaths as preventable but emblematic of the broader humanitarian crisis affecting Kaduna’s rural belt. In response, the Kaduna State Police Command said it would launch an investigation into the attack, focusing on the chain of events that led to the victims’ delayed release and inadequate medical care. The command noted that authorities are working to secure the area and prevent further attacks, though villagers remain deeply fearful.
The incident reinforces growing criticism of government security response in Kaduna’s southern districts, where repeated raids by outlawed armed groups inflict casualties, destroy farmland, kidnap villagers and disrupt livelihoods.
