Tension Rises in Abia State After Bandit Kill Nigerian Soldier

 


Aba, Abia State — Security sources confirm that an armed bandit group fatally attacked a Nigerian soldier in Aba, Abia State, on Friday, sparking renewed tension in the region. 

The soldier, identified only as Lance Corporal David, was reportedly at his father’s house along Ngwa Road when the gunmen struck at around 2 p.m. while he was on leave. According to military insiders, he had been on sick leave when the tragic incident occurred.

Tension in the South-East has reportedly escalated, with some security personnel being warned to remain vigilant and move discreetly — especially when on leave. 

Gun violence has grown in parts of Abia State in recent months, according to rights groups and community leaders. 

As of now, the Abia State Government has not released a public statement, but security forces are said to be investigating the attack.
