Legendary Bollywood Actor Dharmendra Dies at 89

 


Veteran Bollywood star Dharmendra Deol has died at the age of 89, according to multiple reports from Indian and international media.

The actor passed away in Mumbai, where he had been receiving medical care following a month-long illness.  He was previously admitted to Breach Candy Hospital for respiratory issues. 

Dharmendra’s career spanned more than six decades, with over 300 films to his name. He was widely regarded as one of Indian cinema’s defining action heroes and romantic leads, earning the affectionate nickname “He-Man” of Bollywood. 

He is survived by his first wife, Prakash Kaur, his second wife Hema Malini, and six children, including actors Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, and Esha Deol.

His final rites were held at the Pawan Hans crematorium in Mumbai, with many Bollywood figures in attendance to pay their respects. 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi called his death “the end of an era,” paying tribute to his enormous contribution to Indian cinema.
