Residents of Lile community in Patigi Local Government Area of Kwara State were thrown into panic on Tuesday after reports emerged that a large convoy of armed terrorists, travelling on more than 40 motorcycles, was advancing toward the area. According to multiple eyewitnesses, each motorcycle carried at least two or three men, suggesting that the number of armed assailants could range between 80 and 120. The group was first spotted in a neighbouring village before heading directly toward Lile, moving quietly but with clear coordination. Witnesses said the bandits passed through the earlier village without confrontation, leaving residents confused and terrified as they watched the convoy disappear down the narrow bush path leading toward other rural settlements. Local sources who spoke to Dalena Reporters explained that the attackers’ current position remained unknown by the time the alarm was raised, creating widespread fear as families began taking shelter or preparing to flee the community. One resident, pleading for urgent government intervention, warned that if authorities failed to respond immediately, the situation could escalate into mass abductions similar to previous attacks recorded across the region.
As of the time of filing this report, the Kwara State Police Command, Nigerian Army, and other local security agencies had not issued any formal statement regarding the movement of the armed group. The silence from authorities has intensified the anxiety spreading across Lile and neighbouring villages, where community leaders have been making frantic calls for reinforcement. Security analysts note that motorcycle convoys of this scale are not random movements; they are usually deployed by well-coordinated bandit groups preparing for targeted raids, kidnappings, or territorial incursions. The speed and size of the convoy, coupled with its strategic movement through rural pathways, suggest a level of planning that requires immediate and decisive security intervention.
This new development comes barely 24 hours after terrorists invaded Isapa community in Ekiti Local Government Area of the state, abducting a pregnant woman, two nursing mothers, ten children, and several others. The back-to-back incidents have raised concerns that Kwara State, once considered relatively peaceful, is now experiencing a dangerous rise in organized banditry similar to patterns seen in Niger, Kaduna, and Zamfara states. Community members told Dalena Reporters that local vigilante groups are ill-equipped to confront attackers of this magnitude and have repeatedly appealed to the government for improved weapons, logistics, and rapid response mechanisms. Residents are now urging the Inspector General of Police, the Chief of Army Staff, and the Kwara State Government to deploy troops immediately to prevent what they fear could become another large-scale abduction or violent raid.
The growing insecurity in the region has prompted analysts to warn that the attackers may be attempting to expand operational routes or establish new hideouts within the riverine and forested corridors that connect Kwara to Niger State. Without swift government action, experts caution that communities like Lile, which lack adequate protection, remain extremely vulnerable. As uncertainty deepens and the whereabouts of the motorcycle convoy remain unclear, residents of Lile are left in a state of fear and anticipation, hoping that security forces will intervene before the situation spirals into a devastating attack. Dalena Reporters will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide verified updates as they unfold.
