IPOB Rejects NMA Medical Report On Nnamdi Kanu, Warns Court Against Its Use

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has strongly rejected a medical report allegedly issued by the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) concerning its detained leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, describing the document as “illegal, manipulated, and inadmissible” in any court of law.

In a statement made available to Dalena Reporters, IPOB said the medical report in question was produced before the court gave its directive for an independent medical examination, rendering it “void and of no judicial effect.”

According to the group, the report “was neither sanctioned by the court nor conducted under judicial supervision,” and therefore fails to meet the standards set by the Administration of Criminal Justice Act (ACJA) and the Evidence Act of Nigeria.

“The so-called NMA report is a product of executive manipulation. It is an anticipatory document prepared to mislead the court and suppress the truth about our leader’s deteriorating health condition,” the IPOB statement alleged.

The group accused the NMA of “colluding” with the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Attorney General of the Federation to conceal Kanu’s true medical situation, insisting that the document was never handed over to Kanu or his legal team despite repeated requests.

“We call on the court to reject this fraudulent document and uphold the rule of law. Accepting it would amount to judicial complicity in executive deception,” IPOB warned.

Citing constitutional provisions under Section 36(6)(b) and (d) of the 1999 Constitution, IPOB argued that the failure to provide the medical report to the defense constitutes a violation of Kanu’s right to fair hearing and adequate defense.

The group further invoked legal precedents such as Abacha v. Fawehinmi and FRN v. Iweka, maintaining that any act carried out outside judicial authorization is “void ab initio.”

IPOB has therefore urged the Federal High Court to reject the NMA report, launch an inquiry into its origin, and ensure compliance with the earlier order for a truly independent medical assessment of Nnamdi Kanu’s health.
