Toronto police are investigating two separate overnight stabbings that left two men hospitalized with injuries in Scarborough and downtown Toronto.
The first incident was reported shortly before 3 a.m. Sunday in the area of Lawrence Avenue East and Markham Road in Scarborough. Police were called about an altercation and, when officers arrived, they found a man suffering from a stab wound. He was taken to hospital with injuries described as serious but not life-threatening.
Police had not released a description of a suspect in connection with the Scarborough stabbing as of Sunday morning, and investigators continued to work to establish the circumstances that led to the altercation.
A second stabbing was reported shortly after 3 a.m. in the area of Queen Street West and Denison Avenue in downtown Toronto. Officers located another man suffering from stab wounds, and he was transported to hospital with injuries that were considered non-life-threatening.
No suspect description was immediately available in the downtown investigation either.
Police have not indicated whether the two incidents are connected. The investigations remain ongoing as officers work to determine what happened in each case and identify those responsible.
Authorities had not released the identities of either injured man or provided information about possible arrests as of the latest update.
The two incidents occurred within a short period early Sunday morning, prompting separate police investigations in different parts of the city. Anyone with information about either stabbing is encouraged to contact Toronto police.
As the investigations continue, police are expected to gather witness accounts and other available evidence to establish the circumstances surrounding both incidents.
