A man suffered life-threatening injuries after being struck by a vehicle in Etobicoke, Toronto, during the early hours of Thursday morning, according to Toronto police and emergency officials.
Emergency responders were called to the area near Dundas Street West and Kipling Avenue shortly before 3:30 a.m. following reports of a pedestrian collision in a parking lot west of Kipling Avenue.
Paramedics said the victim, believed to be a man in his late 40s, sustained critical injuries and was rushed to hospital for emergency treatment. Authorities described his condition as life-threatening.
Toronto police confirmed that the driver involved in the incident remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators as officials continue examining the circumstances surrounding the collision.
The incident caused concern among commuters and residents in the busy Etobicoke transit corridor near Kipling Station, an area known for heavy pedestrian and vehicle traffic connecting Toronto Transit Commission (TTC), GO Transit, and MiWay transit services.
Investigators have not yet released additional details regarding what may have led to the collision or whether charges could be filed. Police are expected to review surveillance footage and interview witnesses as part of the ongoing investigation.
The latest crash adds to a growing number of serious pedestrian collisions reported in Etobicoke in recent months, renewing concerns about road safety across major intersections in the west end of Toronto. Earlier this year, multiple pedestrians were critically injured or killed in separate incidents near Dundas Street West and Kipling-area intersections.
