The Embassy of Israel in Nigeria has issued a strong condemnation of the gruesome massacre that claimed the lives of more than 160 residents in Kwara State, describing the assault on civilians as a horrific act of violence and an affront to humanity. The statement, shared via the mission’s official social media channels on Friday, expressed deep sympathy with the families of the victims and emphasized that deliberate targeting of innocent civilians is unacceptable under any circumstances.

In the official statement, the Israeli mission reiterated its solidarity with both the Government and people of Nigeria as they confront rising insecurity and work to protect vulnerable communities from further attacks. Jerusalem pledged support for Nigeria’s efforts to address the deepening crisis and confront violent actors responsible for civilian deaths.

The condemnation comes amid widespread outrage at the scale and brutality of the incident one of the deadliest in Nigeria’s recent history which occurred when armed attackers invaded a rural community in Kwara, killing residents and razing homes. Humanitarian actors and local sources reported at least 160 fatalities, with many bodies recovered from burned homes and surrounding areas, and fears the casualty figure could rise as more information emerges.

Nigeria’s President Bola Tinubu had earlier condemned the killings, ordered the deployment of additional security forces to the affected region, and vowed that those responsible would be brought to justice, while civil society groups have continued to call for enhanced protections for rural populations.

The attack has triggered not only national shock, but also a chorus of international reactions: global organisations, regional leaders, and foreign governments have condemned the violence and reiterated their support for Nigerian efforts to counter extremism and protect civilians.
