Terrorist Ambush Nigerian Police Patrol in Bauchi, Kill Many, Injure Two

 


Abuja / Bauchi — Many police officers have been killed and two others wounded after suspected bandits ambushed a tactical patrol team in Sabon Sara village, Darazo Local Government Area, Bauchi State. 

According to the Bauchi State Police Command, the officers were on an intelligence-led visibility patrol aimed at preventing farmer–herder clashes when they came under fire. The team included personnel from the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), the 10 PMF unit, the Anti-Kidnapping Unit (AKU), and the State Intelligence Department (SID). 

The officers killed are:

  • DSP Ahmad Muhammad (SID) 
  • ASP Mustapha Muhammad (10 PMF) 
  • Inspector Amarhel Yunusa (10 PMF) 
  • Inspector Idris Ahmed (10 PMF) 
  • Corporal Isah Muazu (AKU) 

The injured officers are Inspector Isah Musa and Inspector Yusuf Gambo, both from SID. 

Police say they “neutralised a reasonable number” of the attackers during the gunfight. 

The Bauchi Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, visited the scene to assess the situation and extend his condolences to the bereaved families. 

Operation to track the fleeing gunmen is ongoing, according to the police.
