ORE, ONDO STATE — The Ondo State Police Command has launched a full‑scale investigation following the death of a yet‑to‑be‑identified woman found dead inside a hotel room in Ore, Odigbo Local Government Area. The woman’s male companion — who checked in with her earlier the same day — reportedly fled the premises, and is now being hunted as the prime suspect.
According to hotel staff, the pair checked into the hotel along the Ore–Okitipupa Road early Wednesday morning. Later in the day, when repeated knocks on the door went unanswered, a staff member entered the room — only to find the woman lifeless on the bed, with no sign of her companion.
Authorities say there were no visible injuries or signs of struggle in the room, raising serious questions about what happened before her death. The corpse has since been deposited at the Ore morgue pending autopsy and forensic examination.
Confirming the case, the Police Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade, said detectives have begun tracing the fleeing suspect, describing him as the primary person of interest. Investigators are appealing to hotel guests, local residents and travellers who may have information about the man’s identity or whereabouts to come forward.
The tragic incident has stirred shock in Ore and surrounding communities — many residents gathered at the hotel after news of the death spread, expressing fear over the possibility of foul play.
At this stage, the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death remain unclear. The police have urged calm, assuring the public that a thorough and transparent investigation will be conducted. Dalena Reporters will continue to pursue updates, including the results of the autopsy and any substantive progress in the manhunt.
