Renowned Nigerian evangelist Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai, founder of the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association, has died at the age of 80. The announcement, released via his official Instagram account on October 13, confirmed that he passed away on October 6, 2025.
His family’s statement reads in part:
“With hearts full of gratitude, we celebrate the triumphant homegoing of Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai … who passed on to glory … at the age of 80. A faithful soldier of the Cross has been called to rest.”
Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai spent over six decades in ministry, engaging in evangelism, teaching, and prophetic missions across Nigeria and beyond. His ministry was non-denominational and he led the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association (UUEA) headquartered in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
He was known as a spiritual general, mentor, and motivational leader whose life touched many. His work extended beyond preaching to mentoring, community development, and spiritual empowerment.
He is survived by his wife, children, and spiritual protégés.
