At least many residents were killed this weekend when suspected terrorist launched a deadly attack on Galadima Pindiga community in Akko Local Government Area, Gombe State, security sources said Sunday.
According to security journalist Bakastine, who disclosed the incident in a post on his X account, the gunmen stormed the community in the evening hours on Saturday, shooting sporadically and setting multiple houses on fire, triggering fear and panic among residents.
“At least two people were killed yesterday evening when suspected bandits attacked Galadima Pindiga,” Bakastine wrote, describing the violence that broke out along the Pindiga axis of the state.
The attackers reportedly burnt several homes during the raid, forcing many families to flee into neighboring communities as they sought safety from the violence.
The strike is part of a worsening pattern of violent incursions in the region, where communities such as Pindiga, Mamuda, Rahama, Laro, Galadima, Sabon Kaura, and Lombo have faced repeated raids in recent weeks, resulting in deaths, abductions and destruction of property.
Local leaders and residents are calling on the Gombe State Government and security agencies to intensify intervention efforts, including boosting security deployments and improving road access between key farming hubs, to prevent further attacks and protect lives and livelihoods.
The region serves as a significant agricultural hub for the state, and continued attacks could have serious humanitarian and economic consequences if swift actions are not taken.
