Armed Islamic terrorists suspected to be ISIS have invaded Adanla community in Igbaja Ward 2, Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, violently disrupting the usually peaceful area just one day after Christmas, SaharaReporters has reported. The attack occurred on Friday evening at about 7 p.m. when the gunmen entered homes firing sporadically, throwing the community into panic, grief and mourning.
According to sources on the ground, the assailants abducted seven residents during the raid, forcing them into captivity as families were left shocked and fearful amid ongoing insecurity. Several others were also injured, including a young girl who was reportedly seriously wounded and is currently fighting for her life.
Residents described the incident as devastating, noting that the violence unfolded during the festive season when families were gathered at home, intensifying the trauma and sense of vulnerability. Local security forces had not publicly confirmed any rescue operations or arrests at the time of reporting.
The attack adds to growing concerns over persistent banditry, kidnappings and violent incursions in Kwara State and the wider North-Central region, where communities continue to face threats from armed groups despite heightened public anxiety and calls for improved protection.
