In Nigeria: Four Travellers Abducted at Broad Daylight by Terrorist in Kogi’s Yagba East

Yagba East, Kogi State — December 7, 2025 | Dalena Reporters

Four individuals travelling along a major route in Yagba East Local Government Area of Kogi State were abducted in broad daylight on Saturday afternoon by unknown bandits who blocked the road, hijacked their vehicle and seized the victims. The attackers ambushed the passengers near a forested stretch linking rural towns, demanding immediate ransom to secure their release.

Local residents said the bandits emerged suddenly, brandishing guns and ordering the driver to stop. They forced all four occupants out of the car, set the vehicle on fire to erase traces, and dragged the victims into the bush. Witnesses attempted to alert security forces, but by the time help came, the assailants had disappeared.

Residents and community leaders have expressed growing fear, warning that such daylight abductions once rare are becoming increasingly common as banditry spreads. They called on state security agencies to increase patrols along vulnerable roads and forest corridors.

As of press time, there is no confirmation from the police or state authorities on rescue efforts or ransom demands. The victims’ families are reportedly mobilising to raise funds and are pleading with government for swift intervention.
