Osimhen, Salah, and Hakimi Make Final Shortlist for CAF African Player of the Year

Abuja, Nigeria — Victor Osimhen, Mohamed Salah, and Achraf Hakimi have all been named among the final 10 nominees for the 2025 CAF Men’s African Player of the Year award, Vanguard reports.

According to the shortlist announced by the Confederation of African Football (CAF), the full set of nominees includes: André‑Frank Zambo Anguissa (Cameroon/Napoli), Fiston Mayele (Democratic Republic of Congo/Pyramids), Denis Bouanga (Gabon/LAFC), Serhou Guirassy (Guinea/Borussia Dortmund), Oussama Lamlioui (Morocco/Renaissance Berkane), Iliman Ndiaye (Senegal/Everton), and Pape Matar Sarr (Senegal/Tottenham).

Osimhen, who now plays for Galatasaray, is Nigeria’s only representative on the list.  Salah, Liverpool’s Egyptian icon, and Hakimi, the Moroccan full‑back from Paris Saint-Germain, round out a competitive ‘big three’ for the continental honor.

CAF’s technical committee — made up of former players, coaches, and selected media — selected the nominees based on performances between January 6 and October 15, 2025.

The award winner is expected to be announced later in the year at the CAF Awards gala.
