The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has adjourned the collation of the 2025 Anambra State governorship election results, announcing that the process will resume at 6:00 AM on Sunday, November 9, 2025.
The decision to adjourn was communicated by the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for Anambra State, citing the need to ensure that all polling unit results are properly received, verified, and secured before final collation and declaration.
INEC officials confirmed that while the collation process had commenced on Saturday night at the state collation centre in Awka, technical delays and logistical constraints prevented the completion of the full collation exercise. Party agents, election observers, and security personnel remained on-site as the commission finalized arrangements to resume operations early Sunday morning.
The adjournment comes amid reports of minor technical issues in transmitting results from certain polling units, though no major disruptions or security breaches were reported. INEC stressed that the temporary pause was procedural and precautionary, aimed at ensuring accuracy and transparency in the collation process.
Political party representatives and observers were briefed on the situation, and INEC reaffirmed its commitment to a credible and fully verifiable declaration of the governorship results once all official data are properly collated.
The commission also urged stakeholders, media organizations, and the general public to exercise patience and await the official conclusion of collation, noting that speculation or premature pronouncements could undermine public confidence in the electoral process.
As the state anticipates the final declaration, security agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force, EFCC, and local vigilance groups, have been deployed to monitor the collation centre and ensure a peaceful environment for the continuation of the exercise.
