Israeli authorities notified the United States of their intention to strike the Gaza Strip, the Associated Press (AP) reported on October 28.
"Israel notified the US before carrying out strikes [on the Gaza Strip]," the publication said.
Earlier in the day, it was reported that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had ordered new strikes on the Gaza Strip. The Israeli leader's office clarified that the prime minister made this decision after holding security consultations.
Prior to this, on October 25, the Israel Defense Forces ( IDF ) carried out a targeted strike on the center of the Gaza Strip. The strike was said to be aimed at "preventing an attack" by radicals. It was reported that IDF troops would continue to operate to eliminate any immediate threat.
