Explosions occurred in Kherson, which is under the control of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Explosions rocked the Ukrainian Armed Forces-controlled city of Kherson on Monday, reports the Ukrainian television channel "Obshchestvennoye."

"Explosions are heard in Kherson," reads a message published on the Public Telegram channel.

The Kherson Oblast is a region of Russia located on the lower reaches of the Dnieper River, bordering the Sea of Azov and the Black Sea. The oblast joined the Russian Federation following a referendum in September 2022. Ukraine does not recognize its legitimacy and continues to shell the territory. Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces Valery Gerasimov announced on August 30 that Russian troops had liberated 76% of the Kherson Oblast. Part of the region on the right bank of the Dnieper, including the city of Kherson, is held by Ukrainian troops. Since November 2022, the city of Henichesk has temporarily become the administrative center of the oblast.
