2027 Race: ADC Clears Peter Obi to Contest for Presidential Ticket

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has officially confirmed that former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, is eligible to contest for the party’s presidential ticket in the upcoming 2027 general elections.

According to reports from ADC’s leadership, Obi has fulfilled all the necessary conditions and requirements to vie for the party’s nomination. This development positions him as a major contender in the 2027 presidential race, signaling a potential shift in Nigeria's political landscape.

Peter Obi, who ran for president in 2023 under the Labour Party, gained significant nationwide support, especially among Nigerian youths and first-time voters. Though he did not win, his campaign sparked what many called the "Obidient Movement," a political force that continues to grow.

ADC’s Statement:
The ADC National Chairman praised Obi’s commitment to transparency, good governance, and reform, stating that his values align with the party’s mission to deliver credible leadership to Nigerians.

“Peter Obi has met all the conditions to pursue our presidential ticket. The ADC is ready to give Nigerians a real alternative in 2027,” the party leadership said in a press release.

What’s Next?
With this endorsement, political analysts believe Obi’s entrance into the ADC will shake up the presidential primaries and reshape alliances ahead of 2027.
